When it comes to baby essentials, few items are as timeless and practical as the cellular blanket. A staple in every hospital bag, this classic piece quickly becomes a firm favourite from the moment baby arrives. Lightweight, warm and easy to wash, it’s as convenient as it is comforting.
What Is A Cellular Blanket?
A cellular blanket is typically made of cotton or a cotton blend and is characterised by its “cell”-like weave. This design allows air to circulate, which helps reduce the risk of overheating. They’re recommended by midwives and the NHS too, as they are a much safer option than other blankets that are tightly woven and thick, which may cause overheating.
Unlike fleece or thick knit blankets, cellular blankets are lightweight yet warm, making them ideal for layering or standalone use, depending on the weather.
